GENERAL INFORMATION

Information for Visiting Students

Fourth-year rotation applications for the year will only be accepted from students enrolled at LCME and LCOME Medical Schools on a space-available basis after April 15. After June, you will be notified if you are enrolled in a fourth-year rotation assignment. PLEASE NOTE: A minimum of 4 weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks of elective course work is allowed.

Because of limited space, the University of Missouri only accepts visiting students from U.S. Accredited LCME and LCOME medical schools. International student applications are not accepted at this time. We do not accept visiting students in required third-year clerkships.

The University of Missouri will be using VSAS, the Visiting Student Application Service, to receive visiting student applications for the 2009-2010 academic year. Applications may be submitted through VSAS starting on April 15th. To apply to our school, please complete and send us a complete VSAS application for your preferred electives and dates. For more information on VSAS, please visit www.aamc.org/vsas or contact VSAS at vsas@aamc.org or (202) 478-9878.

Currently, VSAS can only be used by medical students from U.S. LCME accredited schools. Students from U.S. osteopathic schools download this application form--MS Word doc. Incomplete applications WILL NOT be accepted and processed. In turn, this application process WILL NOT be accepted from students at LCME schools. VSAS MUST be used if you are from a LCME school.

Application forms should be returned to:

    Amy Shumate
University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medicine
#1 Hospital Drive, MA215 Medical Sciences Building
    Columbia, MO 65212

If you have questions contact Amy Shumate at (573) 882-2925 or email shumatea@health.missouri.edu. She is unable to answer questions regarding availability and how long the process will take. Applications are forwarded to each department for consideration and they make that determination based on faculty and staff availability. Each department maintains its own course rosters.
