Module 10: General Principles of Evaluation

The term evaluation is used in many different settings to imply different meanings.

Michael Scriven (1991) described evaluation as an analytical process of determining the merit, worth, or value of something. Evaluation involves two dimensions (1) gathering data and (2) using the data to make a change or a judgment.

Evaluation activities may take many forms depending on the purpose of the evaluation.
