Module 13: Giving Feedback

Of course, feedback is easy to give when it is positive and learners can be praised for doing something well. The difficult task is to give feedback to poor performers. With poor performers, however, we as educators have a responsibility to give constructive feedback. We can:

  • establish the standards of performance expected of the learner
  • give feedback when his/her performance falls short of established standards
  • develop a plan with the learner to get them back on the right track
Catalyst
Do you remember the last time you were on the receiving end of feedback? What did that feel like for you? Were you receptive to the feedback being given? How effective was the messenger?
