Module 6: Teaching in the Ambulatory Setting

Orientation

Allow time to introduce the learner to the clinic. Routines around the clinic may need explanation, and review other expectations and responsibilities that you, as the preceptor, have for the student. It is helpful if the student is introduced to key members of the clinic staff so there will not be a strange face in the clinic and the student knows who to ask for help if you are not available. It is also helpful to review the daily routine and format for record keeping that the student is to follow in the clinic.
