Module 6: Teaching in the Ambulatory Setting

3. Mini-goals Model

This model was first developed and studied at the University of Washington. The preceptor and the learner agree on some small goals for each session in the clinic. Examples include focusing on the knee examination for the day or improving efficiency of history taking. This takes very little time and allows the learner to focus on a different skill each day.

Catalyst
It is the middle of the two-month block. You have been precepting with Kimberly for four weeks. How would you plan to do mini-goals?
